The quarters at the Shook is a small, older facility with multiple floors and 30 or 40 residents. My mom seems to have acclimated, enjoys the activities, and knows some of the residents there. The only thing she doesn’t like are the fire drills. She also wishes they have more activities. The staff is responsive to everything and acts quickly. We liked that they have a nursing home there, too.

It was a clean facility, and the staff was friendly and attentive. I suggest a nicer dining facility and a recreation room or a community room. The only one they had was the one they used for meals. They did not have an area for puzzles, games, books, or a place to go to and do things on your own. They have painting, and my loved one is always doing something. They give updates on mom, and what is going... Overall, my family feels deceived and disappointed with this facility. Yes the rooms are nice and the facility itself is appealing.
And then there was a closet there, too. And that was pretty much all you could fit into there. There was nothing decorative or anything like that. It was just basically a plain room with those pieces of furniture in there. He went into the memory care, but rehab came in there and did that with him there, so he did not move to a different facility or different part of the facility. He was in the same part the whole time.
